The Making of this Hand Crafted Floating Masterpiece
The original inspirations and concept came from drawings of the original Venetian Gondola. The grace and elegance of the gondola has been faithfully reproduced in this exquisite floating masterpiece. The building of this gondola has been documented and carried out by master boat builders using traditional methods and materials. The wood for the hull and decking was carefully selected Western Red Cedar and the cabin pillars are in mahogany. The vessel is constructed using a keel, frames and planked hull to not only produce the elegant curved lines of a gondola but also a vessel of great strength and stability.
The Gondola has many carvings from original designs incorporating the heritage of the Swan River. The design perfection goes right through to the oar, in solid ash wood and magnificently carved by human hand in the traditional way. The forcola, or oar post, was also hand formed from layers of curved wood to produce its elegant shape.
The interior is upholstered in luxurious red velvet and the cabin roof is in matching gathered velvet. The cushioned seats and arm rests also have fine hand carvings and the drapes are in red velvet.
There is a table for entertaining for your unique occasion. There are also extra storage hatches for ice and drinks and Hors d’oeuvres for any celebration. The many brass fittings were hand made including the vase on the foredeck, which holds a single red rose.
The interior is illuminated by several discrete mood lights, and the brass vase on the foredeck can be unscrewed and replaced by a navigation light for night use. The romantic mood is further enhanced by two discretely positions speakers connected to the CD system. Every design and detail has bee exquisitely finished to ensure that your occasion and experience is the very finest it could possibly be.
The passion and beauty of this rare Gondola can only truly be captured by those that experience her. Gondolas on the Swan look forward to meeting you.
